Speaking after the selection, Phil said:
“Harlow is my home. It’s where I’ve lived my entire adult life. I’ve brought up my four kids here and I’m married to a secondary school teacher so I know the education system inside and out. My father lives here and I understand only too well the challenges of navigating our health and social care system.
“I’ve worked in Harlow for over 30 years and I understand how important it is to be able to find a good job with decent conditions and prospects for promotion so you can provide for your family.
“I know that these are the things that matter to people – education, health care, jobs and housing – but this Tory government has overseen the biggest cuts to our public services in a generation.
and not just the rich, education, which should deliver the same outcomes for all no matter your
“Harlow needs an MP who understands the effect these cuts are having on ordinary people and who is willing to stand up for Harlow and fight for the investment in our public services we need.
“I will continue to work tirelessly for the people of Harlow and the villages. This general election is a choice between a Labour Party that will stand up for every resident or a Conservative Party that will only look after the privileged few.”
Charlie Cochrane, Chair of Harlow Labour Party, added:
“I welcome the appointment of Phil Waite as Labour’s Candidate for Harlow for June’s general election.
“As someone who lives in the constituency, I know that if elected on the 8th June, he will put this area first and will be a committed and local MP – that’s what Harlow deserves.
“Phil is highly regarded within the local Party and I know that members will be out in force to support him as Labour’s candidate over the coming weeks.”
