I really do hope lighting is turned back on. I’m afraid of increased crime rates due to this on going saving energy plan and wish for a petition like this one to change things for the better.

I think people need to look at the bigger picture. While turning off the street lights may save energy, we should be looking at other ways to improve our energy use. I see all three of the major tower blocks in this town have lights on the staircase not being used. Sensor lights can replace these, and only light the stairs when needed.

There is many other miss-use of lighting in this town, too many to list here.

I am fully in favour of turning the lights on. I recently had a very bad fall due to the lights being turned off. This was in Loughton, but it is also controlled by Essex county council. If it wasn’t for the lights being off I would be healthy and also would not have missed 10 weeks of work

The lights should go back on, it’s very daunting if you need to drive that time at night/morning even when you know the area, it’s unsafe all round for every body

I is essential that the lighting in Halow is not switched off. The fear created by walking during the switch off is effecting peoples health and it means that you just do not go out during this time. The most fear and danger of being out effects those who work unsocial hours and have to travel home in the switched off lighting areas.

Ridiculous idea to turn lighting off. I worry about my son and daughter coming home at the weekends and I put my full beam on my car as I can’t see anything, so that must just annoy residents anyway!
